RYBEL CUT – The Statement Label
BIG AWESOME CONTENT WORTH WAITING
All in a new creative style and all connected to our Statement CUT THE BULLSHIT. Art instead of words and secondhand instead of seasonal ware. We take vintage clothes and give them a second awesome and brand-new life!
Each RYBEL CUT fashion series stands for another campaign and another Statement.
Clothes are so much more than just textiles and should not be seen as single use items. They are a part of your personality, express who you are and how you are feeling. Clothes themselves can speak for how you want to be recognized by the world. Each item can tell a different story and demonstrate different statements to the world!

Textile production is still a huge environmental sinner.

A single shirt made out of cotton for example takes a long, environmentally harmful journey before it is actually sold. The cultivation of the cotton leads to a huge water consumption and high use of pesticides and fertilizers. The production itself takes another great amount of water. Can you imagine that the dyeing process of one kilo cotton-based yarn takes about 60 liters of water? And the overall water consumption for a cotton shirt ranges from 2.000 liters to 20.000 liters depending on the irrigation technology.

Aral Sea in Central Asia pumped completely empty for cotton cultivation over the last past years:

But it’s not like that’s enough. Approximately one kilo of chemicals, such as the heavy metals copper, arsenic and cadmium are used in the finishing process for one kilo of textile. The use of chemicals leads to contaminated wastewater. Chemicals and pesticides are not only harmful for the environment but are a great risk for our health by causing cancer and other dangerous diseases.

The
production of polyester, another common fiber for textile production, uses far less water than cotton does, but is based on oil, a non-renewable resource. It is projected that the production of synthetic textile fibers will consume about 300 million tons of oil in 2050. Want to >dig deeper<?

The textile industry has become one of the largest climate sinners worldwide. It produces more greenhouse gases than international flights and shipping together. Through climate change we can already see the consequences NOW!

The more the better, the cheaper the greater is mostly the motto when it comes to fast fashion. New clothes available all time in a high variety for low prices are “in fashion” and describe our current mentality. Exploitation, bad working conditions as well as health and safety risks for people who are working in low-wage-countries are the unacceptable consequences. The RANA PLAZA factory collapse in 2013 is one of the most present and known disasters that the fashion industry is responsible for. It all starts with one shirt and small quantities but then inevitably ends in mass production. Due to price pressures and faster fashion targets most of the productions are shifted to the 3th world countries. But the price to pay is unfortunately much higher and at the end cost us everything.

THEREFORE WE ARE AGAINST FAST FASHION, CONSTANT NEW COLLECTIONS AND CHEAP MASS PRODUCTION.

Did you know that in Europe, nearly 5.8 million tons of clothing are thrown away and 75% of that amount end up in the dump or are burned? Did you notice that a German citizen buys an average of 60 items of clothing a year? But only half of the items are worn regularly.

THAT’S WHY WE ARE UPCYCLING-FANS.
WE GIVE ALREADY-USED CLOTHES A NEW AND AWESOME LIFE IN ORDER TO RESPECT OUR PLANET AND HUMAN RIGHTS.

We put a lot of effort, time and love into our concept to make our Statement Fashion as unique, message-driven and special as possible. So take a deep breath and get ready for the story of your clothes.

Our awesome process is designed to give secondhand fashion the ultimate second life! We take what is already written off, but still fucking incredible and combine it with the current campaign’s statementART. Therefore each serie is timelimited and created specially for our campaign. Starting with the respective STATEMENT of the campaign such as #FREETHEWEED, we look for incredible Artwork that supports our message in a new, creative and unconventional way. This gives us the chance to design unique clothes while giving artists a platform to present themselves, their individual personality as well as their artwork and the story behind it.

Our Statement CUT THE BULLSHIT describes everything we do. So referring to our clothes we cut harmful production procedures and exploitation of human rights by taking a very close look at all our partner firms. We take secondhand clothes and upcycle them with fabrics made of recycled PET bottles. So not only the Secondhand-Ware gets a new life, NO, plastic bottles get a really awesome life as well, trust us ;)!

All our partner firms are based in Germany or bordering Europe to ensure short delivery routes. We also make sure that our partners have the relevant environmental- and textile certifications (e.g. Oeko-Tex 100) and drive environmental programs such as supporting reforestation projects.

Simply said: We want people’s attention for topics that pop up from time to time, are permanent or currently important to spread. We bring our Statement CUT THE BULLSHIT to life by looking at all the ongoing bullshit in the world and taking out one piece of shit. This little piece of shit gets its very own Statement and is packed in an amazing campaign . Each of the campaign therefore underlines our overall statement and targets an socio-critical theme. All in an unconventional way – Statement driven and artistic.

Creativity and especially that form which is expressed through touchable artwork is an important part of the RYBEL CUT spirit.
We go on a journey to find incredible matching artwork from an even greater artist that fits perfectly to the campaigns statement.

Reverse Motto: The less, the better. In order to save resources, we currently combine two types of materials:

FABRIC FOR PRINT
We use fabrics made of recycled PET Bottles. PET Bottles are used, thrown away and then melted into so called “PET Chips”. The chips are then spun into yarn and processed into fabric. We take the fabric and print our awesome statementART on the material, which was once a simple PET Bottle.

SECONDHAND WARE
We work very close with Wholesalers, which send us high quality vintage denim jackets, that match our specifications in order to reduce unnecessary retours. These jackets already had a special time with someone and are now ready for a new lovestory.

When our jackets arrive at the RYBEL CUT HUB, we take a close look at each jacket to make sure they are ready to become a famous RYBEL CUT STATEMENT JACKET. But what are our requirements? High quality fabric, no major damage or stains, unisex sizes and a special and unique design.

If everything is as awesome as we expected, we send our jackets to our textile cleaner to make them fresh & sexy for you. Afterwards, they are ready for the design fitting. Each jacket is special in it’s own way and only exists once, so of course they receive a special treatment by getting their own design. The selected artwork and the design cut underline and represent the individual character of the jacket. Our Mission is to get the best out of every jacket and thats why every jacket is an Individual Masterpiece.

The Finish is the last but very important step. This is where the jackets get their final design by combining the statementART with the jackets. With elaborate handcraft our local tailors sew the PET recycled fabrics with the artwork to the jackets. Depending on the look and cut of the jacket a special sewing process is applied. The sewing process is finished with a yellow thread on the upper back seam on the back of the jacket – the trademark of a each RYBEL CUT Statement Jacket. To ensure that the jackets get a brand new second life, repairs and corrections of the jackets are also elaborately done by our tailors. Embroidery, labels and secret messages are the last touches for the jacket to become an individual masterpiece – YOUR INDIVIDUAL RYBEL CUT MASTERPIECE.
